Speed6 exhaust
Discussion
Sure this has been discussed before but I'd appreciate your input.
I've recently purchased a Cerb 6 and I'd like to replace the exhaust for something a little more throaty, I find the car performs well so not really looking for improved performance but really like the burble of the v8's
Thanks

Imho you bought the wrong car. I agree the cerb is great and I owned a v8 one myself.. however the classic v8 burble is caused by 90 degree config v8 pendulum effect. Griffs and chimps will deliver that In buckets as it is at heart an American Buick but even the v8 in the cerb won't do that. The layout in a cerb is 75 degrees and the noise is totally different. A six is diffrent again and will never be described as a burble.
Decat it, and sleeve it and you can get something more of an Italian howl but American it ain't.

I'm sure someone on here has recently had a bespoke Sp6 exhaust manufactured by ACT (i think).
Think that may well be me! I had mine decatted first with ACT decats & kept the standard exhaust. It definitely made a difference.A lot more pops & bangs & much cooler inside.Edited by Pursyluv on Tuesday 8th November 22:43
I too was after a sound "more like" the v8 if poss & I too got told to go buy one then.Too late for that.I was very pleased with this set up,& might be a good idea to start with just the decats to see how you like it.
I wanted more so went back to Tim at ACT to enquire about their big bore system they do for the ajp & other speed 6s.At the time they didn't do it for the speed6 Cerb.....they do now.Mine was the first & Tim said he was going to give it a part no & market it.I don't know if its up on the web site yet though.
It's tight for space under there but Jp have done a cracking job.It makes a MASSIVE difference! Sounds a different machine now.Basic note is a lot deeper & louder.Pops & bangs have gone mental & have me laughing like a loon.Wind it up & it sounds like an angry demon. It's a lot louder, a lot deeper, more purposeful & menacing.I absolutely love it.
You'll never get that v8 burble, but this has got to be as close as it'll get.It really makes a difference & does sound sooo good now.Thank you ACT.
It is loud though. :-)
I will try.Did it on my phone but it sounds awful- really tinny & distorted. It may play back ok on pc but haven't tried it yet,coz being a muppet I Transfered it off my phone & then couldn't find it! I'll make it my priority.Only other thing I have is a Sony camcorder.Tried it on a flip & it sounded pants on that as well.Maybe I stand too close.

I understand the concept of the v8 and have indeed owned a chimp that was a fantastic car, I bought the Cerb 6 as I'd always fancied one.Decat it, and sleeve it and you can get something more of an Italian howl but American it ain't.
The sound I'd like to achieve is a deeper one than the current standard exhaust, I think I'll try the de cat option as has been suggested, who knows one day I may find a good 4.5 ...... Problem solved

you`ll never get a v8 sound from a straight 6 full stop.
you can change the tone to eliminate the raspiness, and achieve a bassier note, but never a burbling v8 noise I`m afraid, unless you change cars
Not necessarily he could go for the "Reverse Clive" option you can change the tone to eliminate the raspiness, and achieve a bassier note, but never a burbling v8 noise I`m afraid, unless you change cars

Dave
This sounds exactly what I'm looking for, owning one you seem to understand, I'll give ACT a ring tomorrow but in the mean time I'll check the web site to see what they have.
If your at the NEC on Sat let me know and if poss I can hear a recording? Cheers D
