Dipstick

Hi all

I need a bit of advice please! I am currently fitting a 4.5 AJP in place of my dead 4.2 and although the dipstick is on the back of this engine as per my 4.2, the old dipstick won't fit.

The "new" engine has a much larger hole to accept the dipstick from the 4.2 so I am wondering if this is the one I need : http://www.thetvrshop.com/TVR/Parts_details/TVR%20...

Unfortunately there isn't a picture so I can't see what it looks like but I am guessing it is the "purple" dipstick, is this larger than the old (1996) 4.2 one?

Dipstick is purple handled in my 4.5. No idea if diff to a 4.2 though.

I have one I can sell you for a lot less than £59 never been used either.

However, I always thought the dipstick for the 4.5 was at the front and not the back?

Worth checking this first?

If it helps, my 4.5 (2000/W) has a purple handled dipstick which emerges from a pipe at the front of the engine. I think (given the length of the dipstick) that the pipe snakes round towards the back of the engine before entering the block/sump. So maybe you're missing the pipe which brings the (purple) dipstick to the front?

It makes total sense that the dipstick would snake around to the front now, cheers for mentioning it

You have put the engine in the right way round haven't you?
