Is 19" the max

The 19s on mine actually give a better tramlining condition over the 18s I think partly due to the higher offset I'm running on the front.
Rears needed both outer arches cutting back and skimming with FG to stop rubbing.
Fronts required the front and rear of the arches cutting and moving to allow the tyres not to foul (however this was made probably made worse by the higher offset).
I suspect most of my issues are due to the ride height I run, it's low but not ridiculous. It'll still get round the 'ring at it's current height.

Every car I've owned, the first thing I want to do is put a set of nice alloys on them. The cars always look better.
I;ve never done it, or wanted to do it, on the Cerb. The Cerb is a 'real' performance car. If 19", or 18", wheels improved the handling of the car, I'd be tempted, but they don't, they do just the opposite. so why bother. whats the point?

That may be your understanding however I have 6 bolt callipers from a 4.5 on my 4.2 and have been running on 16" Oz Saturns for a year or so.Having said that - in order to put the larger disks and 6 bolt callipers on my car I had to make up custom spacers for the callipers. I suppose that is possibly why the rims fit on mine and maybe not on a standard 4.5 setup.
If you want to run 16s then it might be interesting to see how much you would need to change the spacers by to allow them to fit. Making the spacers was fairly trivial.

I have 235/17 on SP's on my front trackday rims, and 18x10" rear (more options), i have witness marks where they have rubbed a little, but thats the beauty of Fibreglass, it machines itself!!I have 275/35-18 rear road tyres now i have trimmed the inner arch.
