Winter jobs the never ending list
Discussion
A very busy winter ahead of me. I put the Cerb of the road beginning of October mainly due to it not starting due to a goosed imobilser, So sod it time to get stuck in first up i needed some more tools for the job as after doing much the same work on my old chim i wanted to make life a bit easier for my self so first up Air compressor

Next up is my new scissor lift which is lifting nothing at present and heading back offshore tonight is not helping so it will have to stay broken for 2 more weeks, How ever it should be up and running the first weekend i get home as i have lots of valves to change out and see if that will make it lift if not the control box is going back and a new one sent out. Quite frustrating having a new toy that does not work, But the guys i bought it from seem to be doing there up most to help me out and say it is rare for this to happen.
Poor picture as it is shoved up the back of the garage just now

well the inlet manifolds are being sent off to be ported and gas flowed as we speak and i will be doing the valve clearances in the new year and opening them up a couple of thou from standard in prep for my re-map.
So i had the rocker covers off and gave them a lick of paint in crackle red quite pleased so far and lots of stainless bolts to change out for more engine bling it will be a mish mash of bright colour under there not to most people taste but it's a TVR and i like it to look mad. lol

New spiders to get some new rubber and go on.

Shot blasting and painting every bracket that comes off to freshen it all up.

I am working at the chassis as well just using my new air finger belt sander to strip it all back. All looks good so far as this car has had the out rigger replaced a few years ago. I just hate wax oil so i am cleaning and applying a new protective coating over the whole chassis. The wax oil has worked but i just hate getting it on me every time i work on the car.
And i will finish my coffee table soon!!! lol

Im affraid to tell you Scotty d, the outriggers were never changed. I was just told to repair the front corners and it was done in situ. The front upper suspension arms were repaired too at the same time. I repaired the drivers side and the bosses son did the passenger side wich will explain the difference in the finish of the job. I said at the time that we should have just put new arm's on it but i was told to just repair them by the boss. As it was the time it took to repair them cost more than just to replace them.

Hmm that does seem to fit the bill and theme of this car hence i have a very busy winter. The spark plugs could not have been changed out in the best part of 20k and a mix and match set of HT leads is never a good sign. The gear box had a issue that it popped out of second on down change and the last owner paid over £1000 before i got the car to have this fixed, Shocker it's still shagged. No idea when the Valve clearances were done. Receipts tell me 4k ago but i doubt that due to the bolt on the fuel rail sheering off on the rocker cover. so i don't know how it could have been out in the last year or so and since the car has lived out of the elements for years. The front corner on the drivers side has a hole in it again not a big deal looks like the weld has came away but plenty of metal still solid around there after i ground it all back so will get the mig in to it and plate it up.
Just goes to show you how ruff SOME " specialists" can be i guess hence i do all my own work to engineers standards.
Thanks for letting me know Dave is there any other gremlins i should know about since were on the topic?
And since the company do not deal with TVR's any more i think i can see why there were so cheap as they did not seem to do much and this was the boss's car!!!!! good way to promote high standards of workmanship eh!
On the plus side it does drive very well who ever set the suspension set up know what they were doing and the engine does appear to be strong
Cheers Scott
