A full tank got me from Chester to Newcastle and halfway back. 350 miles in total which averaged out at 25.5mpg. I was travelling between 70-100 all the way and I am amazed at the mpg. Is this right as I was expecting somewhere in the region of 15-18mpg? What is the furthest travelled on one tank??

Funny you should mention this. I've done a bit of investigating, and unfortunately the VW V10 TD engine has a 90 degree v between cylinder banks. This makes it two big width wise to fit. Even if it had been 60-75 degree the close couple turbo positions would still had limited installation.
The 700nm of torque would have been seriously fun!!
Now the BMW straight six TD engine might well be a better option.
In all seriousness 24mpg from such and engine is extremely good, espeically as MPG was probably never given any consideration. Thats the advantage of having such a lightweight car.

Sounds about right on a long run. I got 25 mpg on a day trip to Goodwood last weekend in my 4.5 Cerbera (not sure how much difference there is in fuel consuption between 4.2 and 4.5 engines) and this included some stop/start driving in the traffic.
