Having a conversation with the old fella the other day and he was explaining to me that things weren't made as well made as they used to be.

1) Car body panels
I explained that they no longer need to be made of 2.5mm gauge steel. Modern analysis, manufacture and ecomony scales mean the cost is less and the product better/stronger. He agreed.
2) Bakelite Switches
I explained that modern injection molding and tooling techniques mean that many more components can be produced to a higher specification that with this old material and associated manufacturing techniques at a much lower cost. He agreed.
3) Clothes
I explained that relatively speaking, the cost of handmade quality clothing is no nore than what he would have paid many a "hermaseted cup of tea ago". The issue is that cheaper clothing is mass marketed as being of the same quality of hand made ware. He agreed.
4) AGP V8
I explained that having a single overhead camshaft and wet sump technology, same as is found in an Austin Allegro, indeed has no place on a modern supercar, and indeed the dry sump, 4-valve per cylinder, engineered to perfection speed six (sat in a blue Cerbera) was the way to go. He agreed.

My scientific conclusions are that the few V8 owners left (that will eventually buy a speed six modelled TVR) are involved in a fruitless attempt to knock used values of newer Speed Six's so that they may afford one!!

Did your Grandad have anything to say about the AJP V8 though?

True about the Speed 6 - its a marvel of engineering...

But the chain-driven V8 single-cam 16-valve engine still scares the shit out of so-called modern supercars when it roars past at 100mph!

What would you rather have? £8 or £6?

8 is better.

Stick your loafers back on and get back in your limo, we'll have none of those Sp6 is better threads today.
