Hi all,

I am trying to buy a paint stick for my pearlescent blue Cerbera.
TVR Power requires the paint code to order this for me... but the code is nowhere indicated in my car's documents including the black book.

Can anyone with a pearlescent blue Cerb help?
Page 4 of the black book should be the place where to find this.

Many thanks upfront!

Not sure you guys can clearly identify the colour from a picture.
The colour looks very unexciting and pretty dark in low light conditions but has a great metallic shine in the sunlight. It's a pretty common colour for early Cerbs so I thought the colour name would do.

Here's an image anyway...

Thanks

Is it this colour?

If so, its a TVR colour, body code R2846.

That looks pretty much like it. It can sometimes even have a purple shine to it...

Thanks mate!

And yes, it is indeed most probably a TVR colour because on all lists I found on the web with references to other car makers colours this colour was never listed. So TVR hasn't taken it from somewhere else but had it done for TVR only.

That's right, its a lovely colour in the right sunlight. Double check under the bonnet at the VIN plate and make sure it is definitely the right colour code.

Its a lovely colour alright, so much so I didn't want to change it when we resprayed it. Could we match it though, could we hell!!

TVR Cerbera With Supercharged Corvette V8 Engine Vibrant Close Front Quarter Shot by NWVT.co.uk, on Flickr

We couldn't find any info for R2846 Pearl Blue, spoke to a couple of people on here who kindly looked through their records but it didn't lead anywhere.

TVR actually reused the code later on for Rolex Blue which kinda explains why none of the samples we sprayed out matched the car, it really was laughable at times.

In the end we had the paint spectrographed and remanufactured to get the match.

If you open the bonnet and read off the VIN plate near the passenger side headlight it will tell you what the paint code is.

Let us know if TVR Power come up with a paitn stick, I'd be interested in one of them.

Rich.

Great help, thanks.
Will have another look at the car tomorrow.
Sounds as if Power might have problems tracing the right stick... let's see.

Will keep you updated

The code you need is the Body Code on the same plate as your Chassis No.

As mentioned even when you have the code it's not a cert you will get matching paint. Had my front end re-sprayed by surface and design and they took a few goes to sort the paint. And if they had issues then everybody will.

Had another look at the plate in the engine compartment that confirmed R2846 as colour code.
Andy @ TVR Power will now try to get a paint stick for me. I will see him next Monday and should he be successful I can check whether the colour matches my car when I am back home on Tuesday.

I will keep you updated.

Quick update:

Got the paint from Andy @ TVR Power on Monday and finally managed to have a try today.
It was pretty cold, not ideal to apply paint but I tried in a not so good to see corner and the colour seems to match really well. Has the same nice metallic effect under direct light (torch :-)) and blends nicely in. Since the car is currently garaged and I won't drive again before March I will not continue before I can actually get out into direct sun light. So final judgement still to come... but it looks really promising.

Paint + Clear Paint = 2 small bottles came at 30GBP + VAT.

Were you ever able to get a modern day paint code for R2846 ? If so, would you be able to share it with me?

Thanks ,Pat
