Help, no gears

Just driving along m25 back from Ace and lost all gears. Clutch feels ok but it's like gearstick is detached from gearbox. Any ideas?

Same happended to my Cerb in 2010 on the M62, fortunately i was pulling into a service area when the gearstick went "limp", however the car remained in 3rd and i got parked safely. The gearstick had become disconnected from the linkage just below the gator, the AA managed to do a temporary roadside repair, it's a fiddly job, but if you've got tools you can repair it yourself, just take care when peeling back the leather surround

I was there too (the grey Cerb parked near yours but don't know you by face).

Have you had the gear box out at any point? There's a little nylon cup that fits on the bottom end of the lever, that interfaces with the top of the gearbox. I wonder if that has broken or been miss-aligned?!?!?!

The gearstick is connected with a couple of nuts under the rubber gaiter. Mine came loose at Snetterton, I thought I had a major gearbox problem.....but easily tightened up after making a cut in the gaiter just big enough to get a spanner through. Unless there is a simple way of removing the gaiter but it seemed securely fixed.

Thanks for all the replies. Gearbox hasn`t been out during my ownership but what you guys said fits with `feel` of gearstick ie: detached from gearbox. Car is now with mechanic for repair.

I had a similar thing happen when I lost first & second.It was the selector fork that had come loose.

You guys were right it was an easy fix and I didn't even get my hands dirty! Thanks again for advice.
