had my cerb for about a month now it looked lovely until some twat up the road decided to paint the outside of his house in a force 10 gale now my car is covered in tiny white specks. i manage to pick of the larger ones with finger nail. The colour is pearlesent purple, just woundering if t-cut would get rid of the specks with out damaging paint work, or is there a better product (i like using autoglym stuff.)

I personally would start by using a normal polish like autoglym or zymol, it's surprising what they can shift (i.e. tar).

I would also leave the hard work to your neighbour as well!

Would it not be better to go and see said twat and tell him what he's done and offer him a chance to make good the damage to your property??

If he refuses then you can get your friend called Mr Bat to gently help him offer to pay (there's no :batteroverhead: smilie)

Disclaimer: Just a thought and I'm in no way condoning violence

I use my girlfriends nail varnish remover to get rid of tar spots etc. Yes I know it's acetone but it's so dilute it doesn't damage the paint. Try it on a hidden bit if your worried - dab some on a bit of kitchen paper and softly rub. Then soak a dish cloth in about 1/4 of a litre of it and go and hold it over your neighbours mouth/nose!!

I reckon that what you need is a clay bar.

It's (unsurprisingly) a bar of clay. You spray some special lubricant onto the paint, and then just rub the clay bar forwards and backwards. The paint spots and any tar spots should just lift off. When the bar is dirty, you squash it up so the dirty bit is on the inside and start again.

Should be able to get them from Halfords -- if not, www.swissol.co.uk do them. See www.swizol.com/E/GB/Produkte_Lack2.htm (they call it "paint rubber" but it's the same thing). They also do some mighty fine waxes

I'd get your neighbour to admit responsibility and then ask for his consent for you to attempt to clean it. If you naff it up then you may not have a good claim against his house insurance/third party cover?

Got to say that I have been on the other end of this. I sprayed my garden fence and a few days later the guy next door told me the paint had come over the fence and got his car.
Now if your neighbour is like me he'll do what I did.
I spent three hours washing, polishing all of the car (not just the area covered) due to my guilt.

My advice is just tell the guy nicely and I think he'll sort it for you.

Warning: Do check how he intends to do it as he could make it worse!!
