Body off - Mechanical time.

In the earthquake damaged roads of Christchurch I've managed to crack the upper chassis mount of the sway bar. As such I'll have to pull the body from the chassis. I wondered if someone had an estimate on the mechanical hours to pull the body off in order to have access to the rear chassis.

Now saying that it would take me a year

I have just lifted the body on mine to sort the outriggers. It took me a full weekend plus a couple of evenings. Don't forget to allow time and materials to make something to support the body once its off.

Yes if everything goes to plan etc. I confess I was talking about this last week to an indie and that is why I say 10 hours. I was thinking about on one blue moon day having the body off so I could replace bibs and bobs at ease.

In some cases where its just localised, people have removed part of the interior, cut out an access hole in the body, made the repair and then fibreglassed the cut out back in place. Worth considering.

Or once cut out make it a permanent access panel.
