spark plug woes

Guys

I've changed 7 plugs but the last one is giving me grief. i have now seem to have got the spark plug spanner caught.

question is there is a bolt looking thingy next to the plug can this be undone for better access and what is it, oh its a 1997 4.2.

Mine's a '97 4.2 as well and I managed to get all plugs out without having to take anything other than the airboxes off.

It's not easy but it is possible.

Have you a pic of the thing you want to take off?

It might be easier to identify it if we could see it.

Don't undo it.

Its one of the head bolts and removal would likely cause a leaking head gasket.

i ended up buying the right size snap on socket and a wobble bar.
all are now easy to get at

Thanks guys, managed to remove my spark plug tool think it was the threat of the Dremel .

Matty do you know the part No for the snap-on tools you bought?

it's just a deep reach socket, 16mm 3/8 drive. (I think!!)

I had issues doing mine to... I found that if I removed the inner sleeve on the spark plug removal socket it just gave it the extra depth to bite it and pull it out...
With the sleeve in it just didn't go on far enough and felt like it was rounded...
Same plug you are having issues with...

I had trouble getting the spark plug spanner past about 3 of the head bolts hoping what Matt used is slimmer than the one i own.
