Confused - Conflicting info
Discussion
Hi all,
Whilst having a wee look at the rear ride height, I may have come across something a bit weird ( unless someone on here can confirm otherwise).
The rear dampers were replaced by the previous owner with the standard billys - D0938`s.
Now according to Racing, Trevor and Power these are indeed the correct dampers for the rear of the cerb.
Racing green then state that these must be fitted with dark blue D0896 springs.
Then they appear to contradict this when recommending springs for the rear of the Cerbera - dark green D0117 - which is what I have.
Any one out there still running the old billys, and if so with what springs.
Now it gets a wee bit more confusing.
On all pics/info I can see regarding the D0938`s they appear to come with fixed spring seats as per:

Mine on the other hand have adjustable spring seats ie they have a threaded section and 2 adjuster rings at the base of the spring as per (spring and rings removed):

Is this something that was available on the D0938`s or has someone adapted these somehow to allow adjustment.
If they are indeed proper adjustables, can anyone confirm which way the ride height is changed ie lower/raise the spring seats and what happens to the ride height.

These are the standard items as fitted to my 2003 4.5. I changed them to Nitrons a few years ago and never looked back.
All springs were Eibach. The numbers on them may be of some help to you.

Simon

Hi Simon
Thanks for the pics
They seem to have the same green springs on the rears that RG recommend and that I indeed have.
Are the spring seats adjustable on them ?
It appears to me that there is a circlip in the top groove of the damper followed by subsequent grooves below it. Is that some way of adjusting the seat height
If so, which grooves heighten or lower the height
Simon

Hi G9RGE
Thanks for that.
Yeh, had a closer look at my own shocks and the threaded collar slips right off to reveal the circlip and the 5 grooves for adjusting the ride height.
Rather than mine having the regular spring seat which can only be set at one of these 5 grooves, the threaded collar allows for adjustment without having to remove the coil spring and reposition the circlip.
From what Im gathering around the web all that is happening here is the preload on the spring is being altered hence the higher the circlip, the greater the preload and the higher the car sits.
