piston markings

ok so im stipping the motor(early 4.2) and just taken the heads off, cleaned the tops of the pistons off a bit and i can just make out what was once written on the tops with a marker pen ,4.5 does this mean anything? also if anyone knows where i can get hold of a comlete engine manual as the one i have is not all there and has been ccopied so many times the pictures look like the engine was built in the dark not a very good picture but maybe the stamped numbers mean something to someone

E2185 looks to me like TVR part number. The "E" seems to refer to Section-E of the Parts-Manual where all Engine parts start with "E.."

look like 4.5 pistons as 4.2s didn't usually have the cut out in the middle can check numbers tomorrow for you

hi the numbers vary on different sets i have but match with a 4.2 set i have however they dont have the cut outs in the piston yours do, best bet is measure your bore size( 88mm=4.2 91mm=4.5)

just measured the bore and its 88mm,wonder why the pistons have the cut outs maybe thats why someone wrote 4.5 on the tops anyway thanks for the help
