Hi all

this is a great forum and only just discovered it..

..I have just bought a Smoke Silver Jan 2003 4.2 Cerb...I live in tokyo and TVR are really taking off over here...I sold an M3 which as most of you will know is bullet proof and almost indestructable - I'm getting a bit worried bout my new purchase and wish I had discovered this site before I bought the Cerbie.

a few questions which i would really appreciate some answers to;

• Are the 2003 cars more sorted?
• Will I have the same radio/aircon probs as earlier cars?
• Because it has such low mileage (600miles) does this mean that potential problems have not been fixed as with a higher mileage car? (i know this is the case with earlier models).
• Or have the upgrades over the years sorted most of these? Please say yes.

best to all and I hope to enjoy my Cerb ownership.

Sorry -slight error...it was registered in Jan 2003 but was built in November 2002.

gues this might make a slight difference if upgrades where made in late 2003.

Welcome to PH and to Cerbera ownership.

Recent cars are more sorted, but I think the fact remains that as they are handbuilt
there will be some bad apples in the bunch.

Sounds like you have an ex demo car, so I would think the dealer would have taken care of
any little niggles?

Can't say what the new radios are like, but see here:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=111227&f=6&h=0
that it appears to be an easy fix.

Have fun and send us some photos!
Go create some weather...

Thanks Graham..you have taken some anxiety away...you can see the photos on my profile...it is the link to the dealers webpage with my car sitting pretty waiting for me to pick her up next week.

I guess an ex-demo is not a bad thing right? And it is from the one and only official TVR dealer here in Japan, and they do Lotus etc,and have a good reputation so fingers crossed, I'll keep posting over the months with updates- hopefully trouble free ones.

They are Tim...I might get an upgrade once I can afford it...just moved here to Tokyo so lots of expense at the moment...is 16inch rare? Should they be 18's?

Bold move. Do you speak Japanese?

Planning on visiting a friend in Yokkaichi some time in the next year.
Somehow never got to Japan before.

Have fun!

I've been coming here off and on for the last 2 years for work, and my companhy finally decided to post me here for good, so not such a bold move, only speaking a small amount of nihongo at the moment...feel free to drop me a line when you are here...I'll buy you a few Saporro's for a few owners tips.

off to bed now, it's past midnight here...thanks again.

Indeed, classic - the only English in the “–ŽÐƒfƒ‚ƒJ[.

Does that mean to be driven with dinner jacket attire only?

Hello Kev, welcome to the wonderful world of TVR ownership. I fly into Narita virtually every month so if you ever need spares that can fit in a suitcase drop me a line. Cheers Paul

Hi All...

Flashheart, that's very kind...just be careful what you offer..I might just need a set of 18" Spyders..if you're flying business or first, then the extra weight won't be such a prob right? Let me know

I could always pick you up from narita - beats cathing the 2 hour bus to the Westin.

I guess the 16"inch are not common for Cerbs?...they are only available on the 4.5 over here.

If you think the 'Wild but formal' line is funny, the brochure I recieved from TVR after the purchase was titled 'Be Selfish' and 'Going Speed'...they don't mince the translations over here.

Best

Wild but Formal.

Congratulations on both the move and the car. Good for you. Any interesting looks, comments, (that you've understood) from the locals?

Thanks Delvard

It's great to be here in Tokyo...even more excited about having the car...no wierd looks yet as I haven't taken delivery of it...but they all do a funny ooooeeeeeeeaaaahhhhheeeooooaaahh whenever something is interesting or slightly facinating to them - so looking forward to a few of those....also my Finance Director tried to speak to me in broken English yesterday when I signed the lease and he saw the pic of the Cerb and said "you buy gorgeous"...and now refers to it as "Gorgeous car"...you gotta smile.

I think the Tamora comes with 16'' spiders as std - the car in this month's evo wears the same wheels.
