Joolz ,don't remember saying there were any cams for your engine ! But seriously, I will have to check with my girlfriend to see if she has arranged anything for us/me.
David , tvr power do not specify any particular cam ,they shim and re-time the ones you have which in a 4.5 are unlikely to be clatter cams ,Dave

Ahh interesting (learning a thing a day etc, which as I'm 35 and a bit means I know about 13067 things).
From what I can gather..
a)there is much bollocks spoken about clatter cams and early cars being quicker**
b)they are not as clattery as one might think
c)they offer no performance gain over hush, hush cams
** Early cars (well mine at least) are lighter than later ones, even the lightweight. Early cars have more restrictive exhaust systems, although most will have been replaced (the backbox I think, care to comment Mr Jspeed?) And they are higher compression. I guess what I'm saying is that I doubt the cam made much difference.
Saying that I'm hoping that someone will come along and say the ultimate Cerbera is an early car, with clatter cams, no cats, nitrons, 17" alloys and scruffy paintwork

Had this convo with plasticman the other day, I was saying i'd measured no difference between clatter and whisper cams on duration and life, then plasticman told me he'd got two sets of cams there that looked so different it was obvious to the naked eye .. seems there might be more than just two versions of camshaft ..

well if push comes to shove I've got a pair of clattery cams here anyway, one's just starting to break through the case hardening but could be reclaimable
