Engine water rail modification?

I have a small project going on at the minute where i have removed all the coolant pipes and hoses to replace them. I have been making new water manifolds which are almost finished, and have ordered material to make the heater rails too.

I was looking at the engines water rails and am looking at making a set of these too and was wondering if it would be good to modify these by bringing them out away from the engine around 20-30mm to increase the room around the spark plugs. There is enough room either side of the engine to do this and was wondering what the cerb population think?
