Anybody stretched a throttle return spring too far?

Is it even possible?
Just had a little bit of a play with a motor sickle.
Now throttle sticks and only really slowly returns to idle.
If you get out under the bonnet, you can manually close the throttle the last millimetre to the idle stop.
Couldn't be anything else could it?

Can anybody tell me if their 4.5 has two springs?
Mine has only one. Perhaps one snapped?

I think the spring that is connected between the throttle linkage and the bracket that the the intake is mounted on is only a safety measure.
On each bank there is another return spring for each set of butterflys I believe.

I have had countless issues with springs and throttle bodies - the issues being i) the rate at which revs drop, particularly when changing down (or at least thats when its most frustrating) and ii) the stiffnewss of the throttle.
I have had the throttle bodies reworked 2 or 3 times at Raceproved and springs changed two or three times. The solution came from a special spring from Julian / Joolz - a progressive one. All throttle problems resolved.

He is a bit under the radar at the mo supposed to be setting up near Warwick, he pops up on here as spitfire4v8 and i think he is still on e bay doing induction and stuff

UPDATE

It's not the spring. I've shortened it and remade the ends and it still hangs a bit.
The throttle cable is frayed at the pedal end! New one ordered.....
