What a cracking day for a drive, roads dry and salt free, it would be a crime not to take her out. Had a few electrical gremlins which has meant I haven't driven her for a couple of weeks, still need to replace the door mirror switch but that wasn't going to stop me taking her out...
Out on some of the fen roads I started to up the pace a little, window down a crack so I could hear the tail guns firing. 3rd gear on the loud pedal I hit a slight bump, rear wheels start to over rotate at about 85 before catching again - awesome stuff, nose right there with you, so accurate, feed the power with the mighty ajp, get it straight and let it rip, pass a barn exhaust bounces off it, and oh that noise, this is true love.
The only problem I had was at quite a brisk speed I had the bonnet lifting again as I began the hauling through 4th. Now I have previously adjusted the rods to stop this but it seemed to break free again. I promptly reduced speed and felt the silver knob which had rotated just a little from the locked position. My car is a 97 and does still have the chin spoiler, any suggestions?

It's a common problem.
They way I fixed mine was to stiffen up the knob.
Undo the bolt on the knob in side the cab and compress the spring then tighten it up.
Your knob should be nice and stiff when done right, and wont work loose again.
I had your problem for the best part of 2 years, but now with a stiff knob my bonnet stays shut, even at very high speeds, and it makes my gf very happy knowing my knob is stiff at all times
