Oil on air inlet hoses (AJP 4.5)

Beeing a newcomer and looking to buy a cerbera, I recently viewed a car having oil on the bend of the inlet hoses (see red marks in the pic). When touching it, it felt very sticky (like dryed oil), however I have no explanation how the oil got there and was just wondering if this is "normal" on a AJP 4.5 ? (I heard of an engine which had oil residues in the airboxes, they had to replace piston rings and other parts to get rid of the problem) The rest of the engine looked dry and the car is very well maintained and serviced, the engine has less than 30k miles.

Can't help with oil on top the hoses, but oil in and under the drivers side airbox is perfectly normal and expected - it is where the catch rank (such as it is) lives. Changing piston rings to get rid of oil in the airbox sounds like complete bulls

Im glad you said this is normal as i have a similar thing happening to mine,obviously the engine breather pipe goes into the drivers side airbox and it usually happens to mine after i have give it a good ragging.t to me.The hoses do degrade and go brown, and have a tacky feel to them. I wouldn't worry. I doubt it's oil. There will be some oil inside the hoses from the breather on the driver's side...
Tango - I suppose excessive ring wear would cause blow-by and hence crankcase compression which would cause loads of breather gases and hence extra oil to be blown out of the breather and into the airbox. I once had an old vauxhall that would blow its dipstick out

Yes I agree that is a possibility on an old Vauxhall, but I have never heard of it bring a problem on an AJP. Particularly when there is usualy so much oil from the breather anyway - you would never be able to tell! Hello.. another Reason could maybe that the Seeling of the Axel of the Alternator has a leak. And the axel maybe throw it up to the first hoses. Under that hose is the outcomming axel for the alternator.
Do you have some oil between your cylinderheads in teh ground of the Engine V.

Nothing wrong with my engine as it makes good power on the dyno and uses very little oil, I wouldn't be surprised if someone said 'they all do that sir'.
