Right to start with this is not about SHMBO
About 2 mins after the car is started it makes a moaning noise that lasts about 2 seconds. Not speed or steering position related and it has now done it once when ticking over having not moved (but i was outside the car so it could be a different noise). Inside the car it is difficult to get a direction but from outside i think it came from the front ie wings or rad, is there anything in the AC or maybe the carbon cannister purge that might do this ?? Its to early to be the fans and they work fine but it would be about the time the thermostat opens.

Check your oil level .. sounds like air bubbles going through the oil cooler lines to me .. not common and apparently even the factory took a while to work out what the noise was initially .. but it is a known source of groaning noises from the n/s front wing area (where the oil pipes run through to the oil cooler ..)

You're a bloody genius !spit4v8 - That sounds like a very good possibility. Although the oil level is correct this started around the time of the last oil and filter change which for some reason has given a fairly 10psi increase in pressure (so it is maintaining 65psi warm on 0W40).
By the way we must have had similar ambitions in the past the k in my username stems from a project to fit a supercharger to my convertible GT6 so that I could have a drop top kompressor.
