As i understand it all the AJP8's will go back to blackpool for a rebuild. (Mine did) TVR power said they would do it but when investigated further, the engine will stil end up in blackpool.

Warranty is 6 months (if factory rebuilt).

If the engine is using that much oil, don't continue to run it, you may be adding some more 000's to the bill by doing so.

How are they going to rebuild it if you're still waiting for cams? & don't forget the factory will be coming to a standstill for a couple of weeks.

Call Paul Giddings (head of engine build- the nicest guy you could wish to have spending your money!) 01253 509050, he will do all he can to help & won't replace stuff for the sake of it. He knows the engines inside out (its all they do).

Top Cats definitely do all of the engine work themselves on the AJP8, but pretty sure the S6's end up elsewhere. I had my 1997 AJP8 rebuilt by Top Cats last year, cams had already been changed but did involve 8 new pistons, rings etc etc - but no Warranty.

charlieboy - I'm not sure which Thames Valley (Racing or Racetech) you are referring to, but it certainly seems strange that they can quote 25% of going direct to the factory.

FWIW Top Cats did a great job on mine.

Cheers
Jon

When I read posts about the delays on cams and clutches etc, I am sorely tempted to order the parts now, so should my Cerb need them sometime over the next couple of years, delays can be hopefully avoided - as crazy as that sounds !

Charlieboy - Hope the rebuild goes smoothly.

Had my 98 4.5 rebuilt. All brokered etc via APM.
He took engine out , partially stripped it, crated it off to Blackpool, the added new heads, cams, pistons, clutch, fly wheel etc.. APM put it back in and set it all up. Think it cost £5.5K.
So my saving area was re the labour ie indie at half the cost of a dealer.
dont forget that the factories labour rate isnt too bad. It is just the price of the parts that is hard to swallow.
BUT saying that my neighbour has just had his 97 BMW 523i engine fixed (new block and head) at a cost of just under £10K I think !!! Makes me feel better!
