April Fools Day

I really didn't want to do my first lap at the Ring in the Cerb on 1st April, but within minutes of arriving today it started to rain. The VLN race was in full swing so I headed over to a vantage point near the bridge at Adenau to see a Mercedes SLS spin at slow speed in to the concrete wall - not a good omen.
Fortunately it stopped raining shortly afterwards and by the time the TF laps started there was a dry line in places. I was too apprehensive to go out in the Cerb, so I tried to get a passenger lap first to check out the track condition. No one was interested, which is very unusual, but eventually I got a lift in a Golf Diesel off an Austrian kid who'd never done a lap before - no power and FWD, a relatively safe combination.
When I went out in the Cerb it was very very quiet, I don't think I had to give way once - that must be a first, and there were no bikes - heaven! I did loose it once, but caught it easily (not down to any skill on my part) - these cars are much more forgiving than people say.

Fantastic Paul! My one regret with our old Cerb was that I never took it to the 'Ring, I've only taken my Smart(!) and my Mx5! Will have to take the T350c sometime. The Cerbera is generally a pretty forgiving car in my experience, they just step out easily initially, once you've learned or tweaked that behaviour out, its better than most would give credit.

Who do you insure with that gives you ring cover these days? my company wrote the ring out last year along with a good few others I asked at renewal time.
Effectively no cover for TF days, which is always at the back of my mind, especially when bikes are around. Must have been a great feeling and good to know that you had basically no problems. Did you find yourself holding back a little, with your concerns of other people and no cover, and did you eat through tyres/brakes etc?
