Still waiting!
Discussion
I'm waiting for the insurance to cough up for a new rear end (oo er missus), your waiting for cams, seems to be at least ten on here with forked clutches,
Do you think we could all club together & make one good car ?
We could take turns in borrowing it
Baggsy me for the first year......

You would think that a few of the 'bigger' main dealers could plan ahead and keep a spare clutch/cams or two on the shelf
Its not as if they arent never gunna get used
Im going to order 2 sets of each...keep them in my loft...sell them at a premium when needed...pay for my next service with the profit!

anyone know the score with gearboxes ? I'm waiting for a new one..... waited 5 weeks for clutch slave cylinder, 3 days later gearbox goes ..... I'm hoping that TVR may have those .......
I've now started telling colleagues etc that my car lives in the garage and I get to visit it every couple of weeks.

Its settled, we get grahams cerb register, send all 170 people an invoice for £100 and go & buy a 96 model, we can all use.
We'll have to start a "my cars off the road ,f**ked" register first & finalise the £100 figure, as I've a feeling we may require more than one car.
edited to add, just as i thought I couldn't get any lower, I've just read Busters thread about his improved radio reception. Whats the current sentence for murder ?

Sorry Russ, didn't mean to add to your woes!
I reckon it's almost at the stage where it would be viable for a company (or group of owners) to make the hard to get parts for the Cerb.
Not your fault simon, I'm just jealous
Anyhow, I bought the missus a 73 MGB GT last night, knowing full well she wont like it.
Same looking head lights as the cerb, 0-60 in 12 seconds (almost as fast as her metro), and a full Webasto sunroof.
Cost me all of £600 (half my last cerb service)
Now who's jealous ?
I'm off to race some milk floats

the situation where the factory lose out and outside engineering firms start making the parts has already started to heppen .. slave cylinders now not a problem, uprated high spec seals available, got a company looking at reconditioning the clutches themselves, you can already get none genuine body panels often much higher quality than the factory versions .. soon you'll be able to make a new cerbera with no facotry involvement at all!
on the dealership stock theme, the big dealers (and small indies) often stock more than one of anything difficult to get .. I sold two clutches back to dealers who couldn't get anything from the factory (oh how i laughed) .. and my main source (peninsula) are always very good at stocking parts, there's very little you can't get from those great guys .. but even they can't stock enough to keep up with a 6 week delay ..
the end result of course is the the customer loses out and maybe won't buy TVR cars next time .. but hang on in there.
cams .. these can be ground from blanks by the way, you don' *have* to have TVR cams in the engine .. prices are blinking expensive at around 1300 pounds plus vat and carriage a pair, depends how badly you want your car back on the road i guess.
joo

Absolutely agree John,
I too was aware of possible niggles and certain expenses, however when a consumable item such as the clutch(although excessively consumable in a cerbera bearing in mind that most of the time the clutch plates are fine!) is unavailable for over a month and counting it is infuriating!
It has certainly put a few of my mates of even considering buying a TVR!!! and I am now at mercy to the "shouldnt have bought a TVR...told you so" type crap!
