Passenger door window issue

Guys,

New problem yesterday evening. On opening the passenger door, the window isn't dropping the requisite 2 inches to clear the carbon pillar flange (fnarr fnarr), and yesterday without realising, one of my passengers ended up causing some minor damage to the flange on reclosing the door (which was when I noticed the problem). The window had previously had a minor issue in that it didn't close fully on shutting the door, although it only lost about 5mm in height with each opening, so was remedied by just using the window switch internally after my passengers have exited the car.

I have noticed that the passenger door switch located at sill level is an odd looking metal contact, whereas the drivers door one, is a plastic push-type switch.

Any ideas?

On my car the sensor at the bottom of the door is a reed switch, just hold a magnet up to the door to test whether the switch is working (interior lights will go out). Sounds like you may have a push button on drivers side, perhaps because the reed failed and was more awkward to source.

Ahhh... the interior light did have an issue too. Although intermittently it is working. Sounds like maybe some water in the switch - we did have a heavy rainstorm & hail the evening before when the Cerb was on the drive. I'll see what happens when it dries out.

Most likely to be a problem with the connectors inside the door or the window limit microswitch behind the glass inside the door card. You can test the proximity switch with a magnet, but if your interior light goes off when the door is closed, then it isn't a problem with that.

Replacing all my door connectors with proper waterproof AMP ones permanently cured all my intermittent door and window problems.

If you search AMP/ Superseal connectors on ebay there is a guy there who does them all, I have also replaced my connectors and with these ones you know it wont be a problem ever again once these are in.

Before you go replacing anything try cleaning the contacts inside the jack plugs in the door with electrical contact cleaner spray.

That might just solve it for you.
