GT Engine on Ebay

Is it worth buying just for the steel billet crank alone? Been told they are £1500+ new.

GT have a different capacity than the standard
4.5 ,so yeah I guess it would have the rail

GT engine cc is 4,578 if memory serves.

Engine serial number is on one of the pics, GT 7P4200718.

4.2 block, not 4.2 pistons, liners or crank if it is a "GT" tho, correct?

No afraid not Steve , the seller told me its a 4.2 engine with a 4.5 heads fitted.~Thanks for your message,

4.2 and 4.5 heads are exactly the same though? Certainly all the ones I have seen are.

I'll hazard a guess he doesn't know what "GT" means on these engine, which might be good as he'd probably want more for it!

Steve there has been quite a few discussions about GT engines & I believe that a lot had GT stamped on them when they were very early 4.2 engines. The only way to find out is to contact nemesis & give him the engine number.

I think it will have the 4.2 bottom end though ...bit brittle ???

Yup read quite a few of them. The engine number on the Ebay one is 10 after my engine, which is certainly a 4.5 "GT" engine with the steel billet crank - as verified by APM when they took it apart last month! That's the basis of my question, is it worth someone buying at that price for the crank alone considering the cost of a replacement billet crank?

Id hope the machining of the parts was more accurate than the paperwork! Mine is listed as 4,475 on my insurance docs.
