Was fiddling around by the oil cooler & managed to drop a socket, its rolled out of sight possibly under the radiator ? How can I get the bugger out,I thought I would be able to drop the floor of the nose but that, not the case?

Afraid not sir regarding dropping the floor. If i were you i'd just lift the rad just enough to have a rummage around under there with your finger tips.

The telescopic magnets change your behaviour entirely, you end up carrying one just so don't have to bend over to pick things up...

Bloody hell, I snapped the tele magnet ,its about 1" long nowI can hear it(socket) rolling around ,cannot live with this...so before I touch the Rad I am going to put the front wheels on blocks & jack up the back with a extension on the jack. When I drive down the road you can hear it banging about, what's the betting it wont budge at a 45degree tilt

Have you tried taking the number plate off and groping around in the lower opening at the front. Chances are the socket has rolled in there and you may be able to reach it that way.
