Have been through the search route, as I'm sure this has been discussed before but cant find the solution. My rear brake pads have developed an annoying rattle whilst moving in traffic, they catch on the disc, move, release then catch again causing an annoying click click click. If the brakes are applied it's cured until the piston moves back into the caliper again. Heeeeeeeelp!

Most people silicon the back of the pad to the piston. - I have some anti rattle springs in which my friends at X works sorted for me.

You are right though...its an annoying noise.

Racing green cars sell anti rattle pads, I had the same problem and these fixed them perfectly about £16.00 for a set (2 rear wheels). I dont know why but I dont like the idea of silicon sticking the pad to the piston.

If you're sure that's the prob then you have your advice above. The reason I commment is that I thought I had a simlar problem but it was just that the Handbrake adjustment hadn't been carried out properly.

Did it myself and the noise disappeared. scratchchin

Defo worth a look on the handbrake side caus they certainly caused me some noises. Copperslip on the back of the brake pads also further quitened the whole thing for me.

OK, so I rang Racing Green and they despatched the return springs to me. On opening the package they appear much longer and more spindly than I imagined. Has anyone got any pics, diagrams or fitting instructions for them?

Exactly what I thought.
Had the same problem with rattling rear pads so ordered and fitted the springs which were originally missing.
I was rather dubious as to whether these "spindly" wee springs would cure it - and they didn`t.
On advice from another thread I ordered a set of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Self-Adhesive-...

That did the trick.
6 months on and not a sound.

After time these little springs can creep up the holes in the pads making them less effective.

I put some M3 or M4 washers between the spring and pad to prevent this and my rattle stopped
