Hi

I am looking into buying a 4.5 Cerb and have been looking back through the forum to try and get some of my questions answered. Two things I would like to know is what year did they start putting speakers into the doors and when did they start putting the Tuscan style seats in.

Cheers
Ian

Bloody hell H, if they are the only two questions you have about buying a Cerb, you really have done alot of background work (or not enough! LOL)

Cant help you with either, but a month into ownership, my mouth still hurts from the smile (and the ears bleed after 25 minutes <g>

Buy a yellow one

They always had speakers in the doors, the very early (we call them classic) Cerberas (you know the really fast ones ) had a strange yet crap speaker setup with ickle tweeters in the doors, they are crap. I think they changed to normal door speakers somtime in 97

I can help!

Speed 6's come with the Tuscan style seats and I believe that they have been an option on the 4.2 & 4.5 for a while.

After 2001, they became standard across the range - yippee!

Absolutly no idea about the speakers though.

I think it was actually for the 2000 models that the seats were changed.

Thanks for the replys. I currently drive an RX7 which has cost me quite a bit of money That is why I have researched a lot into the Cerb. The only thing that is putting me off getting a Cerb is the engine problems it has and having to get it rebuilt. I have had enough of that with the RX!

Indeed, the official line is:

For the 2000 model year, lights, A pillars, roofline and seats were changed
and lightweight bonnet, doors and bootlid were introduced on the Cerbera 4.5

Only just bought the Chimaera, fancied a bit of open top motoring.
The chopper is still for sale here, why are you interested? www.michaelwheatley.com/as355n.htm
I've decided to get my head down on work and save for something historic instead. We all need our little goals in life.

I have enough on funding the cerb...never mind a chopper.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I think this is largely dependent on which type of engine it is, when it was manufactured and, importantly, how its original running-in and subsequent warm-ups have been done.

That said, I don't hear of anything bad of the AJP8 suggesting widespread problems from people who work on them.
