Hi All,

I was wondering what effect modifications may have on insurance premiums for a Cerb. I can imagine suspension and brakes wouldn't be penalised as they could make it less likely that you would have an accident, but what about induction changes, remaps and exhausts that are designed to increase performance?

Cheers

Suspension and brakes will add to the premium in many if not most cases I would have thought. Wheels (eg spiders on an earlier car), exhaust, ecu, intake hoses, light modes etc all need to be declared. I suspect a number of cars arent fully decalred and that 'standard' insurers would probably not insure such modded cars.

My mods don't seem to have loaded the premium much as they are common mods.

Spider wheels, Nitron suspension, head and tail light mods etc.

The engine mods, whirlwind induction & map, Silverstone Performance exhaust etc are fine as the power wan't taken above the above factory figures.

Specialists I guess. Was with Hagerty for 3 years until they stopped insuring modern tvrs. Now with Henderson Taylor for 2

I was insured TVR specialist Manning in Henley and they were happy with virtually any mods as long as it was not a Turbocharger or Supercharger or Nitros. So I had to change to classic line who insured the supercharged cerb for an additional premium of approx £150.00.
