Racing Green reckon I would benefit from new shocks, have to say the ride and handling are not great and bumps are a nightmare. They are recommending AST shocks or Nitrons as an alternative. The prices of both are similar. Now I've seen plenty of posts on here re. Nitrons but not ASTs, so does anybody have any experience with them? Or maybe I should save a few bob and get Gaz Gold Pros? I'm not going to track it and am no Michael Shumacher, just want something that feels stable on our lovely roads. All opinions welcome

What have you got at present?
Are you just doing 2?
If your existing ones are 'cheap' and you are doing just 2 then I would say buy the cheapest ones eg Gaz or Protech.
Never heard of AST.

Racing green advertise the AST ones on the back of the tvrcc mag. I think they are there own spec and design and not cheap. I'm sure they would recommend them at over £1k lol

I've got the standard Billy's and I'm doing all 4. I was thinking of spending around the GazGold / Racing Red price range tbh, but happy to pay more for good ride quality. The car is pretty shocking at the moment.

Of course RG are going to promote their own brand, but if they are good that's all that matters - hence asking if anybody has had them fitted.

I had standard shocks, springs and bushes on mine when I bought it, last year I had the whole lot removed, new bushes, nitrons and eibach springs with a full geo set up and the difference is amazing, it's like a new/different car. I've not tried any of the other shocks etc but I'm more than happy and other Tvr owners I have spoke to with other models who have fitted cheaper ones then nitrons have said they wished they'd had the nitrons first.

Why don't you take a drive to Andy at Apm. The Cerbera expert and has set up many a Cerbera and Tuscan race car. Has also helped develop Cerbera specific dampers.

I have done my first 1000 miles on nitrons in the last 3 weeks and Geo set up by Track V road and it feels very tight with not to bad a ride quality I thought i would feel very firm on them but i have been surprised I do however like the old Avo's that were on it and i liked the brief stint on the standard shock ride comfort wise.

I ran Gaz Nickles on my Chimaera and hated them crashy , Squeaky bottomed out with ease on every setting and skittish after having a full Geo set up.

I changed from (leaking) Bilsteins to Gaz when I got the car and couldn't tell a great deal of difference in the general handling. When the Gaz started leaking and squeaking a year later, I changed to Nitrons with Eibach springs and had the car corner weighted. The improvement in handling was dramatic! Like driving a different car.

Second the Nitron vote, I had them on a V8S and they were very good.

On the Cerb I have Intrax and to me they are very very good.
