V annoying problem!
A few weeks ago I had an overheating problem with my speed 6 Cerbie - after driving for around 30 mins I started to get a whiff of steam from expansion tank. This quickly let to temp gauge flying to 110 and water pouring our bottom!!

Decided to tackle repairs myself - found a leaking hose near expansion tank. Also checked the thermostat and found it was stuck so sorted that too

All seemed fine since then

Yesterday took car for Mot only for itto suddenly overheat after 30 mins enthusiastic drive and for water to suddenly pour out bottom. Can see any obvious place and it only appears to happen Once car is fully hot and system pressurised? Don't understand why it doesn't leak from start!

Anyway, it's now with garage for them to find leak and then do Mot

Anyone else had anything similar?

Had over heating problems with mine from day 1 so just went the whole hog. Silicone hose kit, stainless water pipes, new thermostat, new water temp sensor and had rad recored. The difference has been impressive to say the least ! Fans coming on much sooner and now takes ages for temp to creep past the 90 mark smile water when I drained it was dirty rusty old stuff frown she is now filled with Halfords OAT coolant and distilled water.

Worth the effort when you can see such a big difference

I experienced this on my sp6. It turned out that i had overfilled the expansion tank and not fitted the cap tight enough, and once the car got up to 90deg it spewed out all the coolant.
l have since fitted a new temp sensor and silicon hoses and stainless water pipe and now the car rarely gets above 95.
I also got my radiator re -cored.

Sounds like your fans not kicking in so need to check temp sensor and wires to fans

I've found mine does not like to be filled up to max level or it will blow some steam. Level needs to be lower for her to be happy ! So don't overfill

My AJP had probs that were caused by a minute crack ib the nylon 'Y'-piece which connects the two banks' external water pipes with the expansion tank feed pipe.
Don't know what the system is like on the Six but I would check for any plastic connection pieces in your header tank feed system and replace.

There are brass pieces available from TVR Parts suppliers !

If all electrics working and there is no cracks but when your at full temp it leaks. Then I'll go for a pipe with no jubilee clip attached. They rust away and snap letting water blow past.

Mine decided to dump all of its coolant, it was just a new expansion bottle cap in the end.
I got a genuine one from vw, a nice cheap fix.

The heater matrix is popular for faults, and it is located behind the passenger footwell, underneath the expansion tank. So if you are seeing a leak beneath the expansion tank, it could well be the heater matrix, or connectors to & from it.
