Just aquired 2 standard AP drilled 322mm discs (J0727) to fit my 4.5 rr and want to know what pads to go for. Also need part number an best sources! Not planning on track days, more road use than anything else.

Nope, single pc, at some point the 2pc versions were taken off and an upgrade done, then the upgrade was taken off and single pc fitted again ( before I bought the car).

Thanks for pad advice, best source?

DS2500s are known for leaving pad deposits (google to see how many folks complain about this). They are a good pad, but do consider some alternatives. I still haven't decided what I'll try next, but the CP5200 caliper is so commonly used there is plenty of choice. Some of the guys here report great things about the Carbon Lorraine RC5+ pads, although I don't know how much of a track bias these have. There are also Pagid RS 4-2, RS 4-2-1 and RS5s and at the budget end EBC Reds. A friend rates these on his GT3 which has similar weight and pace and having raced for 20 odd years he is quite particular about his cars.

Personaly I like the Mintex 1144 pads for both road and track. They are also excellent from cold which is perfect for sprinting.

I put EBC YellowStuff on the Cerb despite having issues with them on my 928. They left deposits when pushed on the much heavier 928, but I've had no complaints on the Cerb, and they're not expensive at about £55 for the fronts. I use the Cerb mainly on the track, however Capt Slow is quicker than me.

I sell carbone Lorraine to various driving experience thingys, they last around 3-4 times longer than the 3 letter brand, as well as performing way better, you pays yer money...

I would love to try some, but £200 is a significant ante up.

I loved these, cheap, good feel, until 20 mins at Castle coombe overheated them and warped my disks.

I now have these from Brummie (Carbon Lorraine RC5). Brilliant feel, long lasting, no complaints at all and I mostly drive on the road.

I have done a lot more than 20 min at Castle Combe on them (and many other circuits) without any problems whatsoever. Clearly I need to brake later!

They performed not bad at Knockhill, one moment after around 10 laps where the pedal went wooden on me, felt hard but nothing much happened at the end of the straight eek Kept the pedal pushed hard down and it finally gripped the disc. So did 8 laps at a time after that lol

They are not bad for the money the Mintex and yeah they do sequel a little, In both my cars but i can live with that.

I had no problem before with thembefore, did quite a few trackdays on the mintex and at around £45-50 are cheap, good road pads. However 3 x 15-20 min sessions did cause the pads to overheat and the disks to warp, something I think I read on here someone else had? Anyhow it all came at the time Brummie was selling pads so I bought those.

Castle Coombe is quite heavy on usage of everything anyway. The instructors basically tell you to take it smooth around the corners and use the power out of it. 6 mpg nearly caught me out as I went through a tank full by lunchtime. It might be I was trying to keep up with Rob in his Sagaris with 888's smile

Dust and noise wise I don't find the Mintex are any different to other pads I've tried.

How do you find the Carbone Lorraine pads from cold? One of the big advantages of the Mintex for me is the cold performance - not much fun sprinting on cold brakes and tyres to find your pads need 3 laps warm up, like the Ferodo ones I don't use any more!
