How much it the tax?
Discussion
220 sounds about right. I am guessing you mean for 12 months? 270 seems wayy to high. I remember from a couple of years back there was some mix up something to do with different classes of vehicle and the Cerbera duwe to age or numbers produced fell into a lower category. A lot of TVR people on here were paying too much.
This is why I was asking as I don't have a renewal letter so don't want to be stitched up when I go to the post office.

Why was mine £220 then? I have a 4.2 1996??
My mate has a 3.2 Merc diesel... his was £270
I'm guessing your mates Merc was a Y Reg or newer. My mate has a 3.2 Merc diesel... his was £270
From X Reg back to 1973 cars are taxed at a flat rate dependent on engine size (above or below 1549cc) but nothing to do with emissions.
From Y Reg on it's all to do with emissions.
Yours being a '96 you should only be paying the £220 for the year, or £121 for 6 months.

€1683.00 per year here in Ireland.
YES that is one thousand six hundred and eighty three euro.
Now you know why mine is off the road.
I wish I could get mine on the road for a couple of hundred a year.
I think France is similar, we're lucky here in the UK even though we tend to complain.YES that is one thousand six hundred and eighty three euro.

If you put your registration number into the link I posted it will tell you the exact amount for your exact car, no guessing required. This is why I was asking as I don't have a renewal letter so don't want to be stitched up when I go to the post office.
The only time this figure would change slightly is just before the April tax rises.
John.
If anyone is paying more than the standard PLG rate then your car has been wrongly classified.
TVR as a small manufacturer were exempt from the regulations and didn't have to produce CO2 figures for taxation purposes. If your car is wrongly classified then you can appeal and a number of owners have done this successfully but you need to be persistant as the DVLA will routinely reject your claim.
There are several threads on this on here.

The Mitsi Evo has the same problem, we've got guys paying £400ish [top whack] for pre 2001 cars [which should be in the under/over 1800cc PLG category] and guys paying £200ish for 2006 Evo IXs which should be in the top band. It all depends on how they were seen to be registered with the DVLA when they were imported.

Thats a nice piece of info.
Just checked a known 2004 cerb on jhfozzy`s link provided above and it confirms date of registration/manufacture as 2004, but £121/£220 tax and quotes 0g/Km CO2 emissions.
Result.
