I bought a non-working one of someone in order to get it rebuilt while mine was still in the car. It was only when it came back and I fitted it that I noticed that the dial was a slightly different colour.I have just this second pulled it out of the car (not a five minute job) because the rebuild failed. They've agreed to fix it but the hassle factor is not insignificant.
Yeah.... I did this a few years ago on my last Cerb! The capillary needs to go through the dash, through the bulkhead and into the waterpipe (or rad - can't quite remember).
The sod of it all is undoing the two nuts behind the dash which secure the unit in position. When you remover the capillary, as said above, snip it and drag it through the bulkhead through the bonnet side.
Remember to use some sealant when you refit the capillary in the bulkhead or you may allow some water ingress into the cabin!
There are two different colours of tan/ light brown! This is why there are two very slightly different colours. Good luck, easy but an hours job to do 100% (remember to make sure that the gauge is LEVEL before tightening up the securing nuts!

Thanks very much guys! I haven't finished it yet luckily the dash was secured with wing nuts so not too difficult with childs hands lol. I will mission the rest tomorrow. Dial is free, just need to threat capillary through. Looks like you have to take D/S airbox off to get to water pipe so not too bad.

the capilllary cannot be replaced easily are the capillary is soldered to the internals, so the gauge would have to be completely stripped down to its individual components then re-gassed and rebuilt, it would be easier to make a new gauge as it would be to replace the capliiary.at this moment it would be difficult to have the pressure gauge as mechanical (bourdon tube) and the Temp gauge with caplillary as electrical both inside the same case.
as an idea what about 2 individual electric/electronic gauges instead of the dual gauge?
