Yep, 2000 miles to Monaco and back, no issues.

Pop to work and a quick MoT and she decides a Friday afternoon in stop start traffic is the time to fracture the 100 amp fuse.

Managed to get off the M25 and up to the Beaconsfield services to call the breakdown people (ALPS).

Got me a tow within 45 mins even with all the overheats on the M25!!! Asked for them to bring an 8mm socket and a jump pack and was up and running again in 10 minutes!

Check your big fuse (if you have one) and if it looks even slightly dodgy replace it.

oh and carry your breakdown company number, that took 10 minutes of finding online! wink

Scotty...It's THE 100 amp fuse... the specialist one under the bonnet.

Ridds... if I has a glovebox I'd keep it in there... Anyway, great advice, just like changing the oil pump spring!

Glad you got back ok and it didn't take you a number of days diagnosing it!

Yeah that's what i was on about as well The charging circuit fuse for the Alternator.

I was meaning was it a strip fuse or midi fuse that failed as the strip fuse's are prone to crack and break down with age and heat. I replaced both my old Chim and the cerb with the Midi type unit that holds out much better than the strip.

Yeah strip fuse. Thinking about a new Midi one as the replacement as the holder has lost a retaining nut again as well.

To be fair. It was 5 years old.

Glovebox? laugh not got one of those. Plus you'd need to carry an 8mm socket, extension bar, ratchet and a means of disconnecting the battery.

Ah! Didn't know there was an alternative... Anything that helps the longevity of the 100amp fuse is a good thing

Why fit 125A and not the standard 100A? Do you have a very big boom box or sumthink

I note it fits in the original holder, which is good to know.

Iv got mine in bits at the mo and can't remember where to wire the fuse to. Is it
Live from battery to fuse, then fuse to starter, then starter to alternator?

Now I just need to know where to find the fuse so I can replace it whilst my battery is off the car... confusedsmile

To find the 100amp fuse look in to the V of the engine towards the rear below the Bulkhead look down in there and you will see the coil packs it is located just behind those towards the cabin end of the car, I hope that is a good description. laugh

To add the best picture i could find when mine was in bits to show rough area to look in (mine is seen on it's side here)

No.... I'm sure it's... Battery to starter motor... Starter motor to big fuse... Big fuse to alternator

The post on the starter is used to avoid two runs of wire. Starter is connected direct to the battery, there is then a run from the post on the starter to the fuse and then from the other side of the fuse to the alternator.
