aircon/ heater control box

Hi all, she's in having a new radiator and condensor at the mo so ill have aircon at last.
Only thing is i also have a dodgy control box. It clicks when you press the air button but no power goes to the clutch. I was going to just put a link wire in to deal with this but a mate recons there might be further control required. Ie cycling so it doesnt freeze up??? any thoughts or knowledge welcome

The aircon clutch will only engage when the system is above a preset low pressure. If you have had a leak then it may well be working fine but is just too empty to engage.
