Hi,

It all started with a tiny dribble of water coming from a split in one of the symmetrical water pipes just hidden under the big plastic shield thing. Easy job, surely. ha ha ha.

First hurdle, 5 of the 6 allen key bolts came out easily, 1 rounded. Great. 2 hours later, great deal of swearing and the panel was off. Then the hose clip was totally rusted, and getting a hacksaw down there was not going to work, so the whole metal pipe had to come out. Another couple of hours and now I have this:

The blue pipe is the closest one in size from the TVR Power set, but is too long - do I just get the hacksaw out again or struggle shoving greater lengths of pipes in small spaces?

Also, whilst the metal connecting pipe is now out I'll clean it up, but are these things easily available and worth replacing, it's rusty but solid still.

Cheers

Joe

Not readily available I don't think.., try TVR POWER or RACING GREEN. Clean it up, maybe some hammerite? and yep, using a stanley knife, just cut down the pipe to the same length as other one... use a bit of vaseline to get it on easily... OOOERR, MATRON!! laugh

Hmmm, nice. More pricey than a can of Hammerite, but tempting. Might have to treat myself, I never did like painting anyway.

Best method of cutting silicon hoses is to place a jubilee clip around it to help guide the Stanley blade. Makes it much neater.

While you are changing the odd water pipe and half the panels etc are out I would get the act silicone pipe set and change all of them as no doubt some pipes will be on the way out so it makes sense to change the lot, I did and check all the metal pipes as well carefully as I put all the new pipes in and started her up and water was dripping from under the engine and traced it back to the pipe you are going to clean up, so I ordered new metel ones from act as well so complete new system now execpt one metal pipe which looks okay. Don,t listen to some of the stupid replies you will get trust me its worth doing.

I totaly agree, never change one pipe (of any sort) if they have wear and tear. I did the whole set of silicones and stainles stel from ACT. In my case the metal pipe looked very bad and that is what prompted the change but although they were tatty when i actually got them off they were a long way from perforating. The frightening bit was how bad the jubilee clips were, almost all were rusted solid and several just crumbled, TVR must have sourced a special batch made from melted down dinky toys.

Agree completely ! if your in there then change the lot, it's worth it and made a huge difference to how mine cools.

Also change temp sensor ( £11 ) and worth it for peice of mind for fans coming on when they should.
Stainless pipes are a must IMO, problem is the rust the old pipes are putting into system ! mine were pretty rusty though

Job done

Not that I needed a great deal of convincing, but I'm now convinced. What was the last picture though? and where does it go? Good tip on the temp sensor - do ACT do those as well?

That's the thermostat it goes down towards the front passenger corner. If ACT don't do the sensor, give TVR Power a ring, they will almost certainly have one and I have always had very quick service from them. (Always good service from ACT too!)

Hi, hate to see someone in trouble. I sold my Cerb a little while back. (Still regret it)I have a brand new set of these pipes in the garage which I was keeping "just in case" (anodised mild steel I think)I live in the Barkingside area east of London. If you want them £65 would cover it if you pick them up. Can Email a picture if you wish. Just thought I'd offer.
