Just spoke to my garage and all is well... New condensor and rad fitted, he just needed to know how much gas to put in now???? anyone shed any light on this??? means nowt to me

The figure 750 springs to mind. (assuming same aircon as the T cars)

I belive the aircon contents are
Refridgerant - R134A
Charge - 0.75 - 1.00 Kg
Oil Type - PAG Oil SP-10
Oil Amount - 150ml

I put 950g in recently, ran for 5 mins, stopped.

Not run since. May well have been too much. Need to investigate further.

There's a pressure switch that reacts to low and high extremes; if the gas pressure is too low it stops the compresor working, for example if you are low on gas due to a leak or gradual escape of the gas after a few years). If the pressure is too high (i.e you put too much gas in, or if the fan doesn't cool the condenser for example) , it will also stop the compressor working.

Most systems tend to work on a +/- 10% range - so a 750g charge works with the 10% tolerance 950g Is a bit on the high side (!), hence the five minutes working before the high pressure switch cut everything out....
