Time has come to replace the pads and possibly the discs on my 2003 4.5 (running fairly hard nitrons and a tuscan diff). I hill climb the car aside from the normal enthusiastic road use.

Keen to hear any recommendations. The pads and vented discs are standard currently. Not really found them to be too lacking in the past although the effort required to stop hard is clearly more than in our decent family car.

Don¡¦t really want to go down the route of anything too hardcore that will wear quick and cost a fortune. But am open to any thoughts ƒº

I have recenly changed to the Racing Green version of the 4.5 one piece discs. They are £50 cheaper than the original version. I have fitted Carbone Lorraine Pads, getting a bit of squeal occasionally, but good feel and no reason for complaints.

I like the Mintex 1144 pads for sprinting, they may be a bit noisy, but they are the best I have found from cold.

Racing Green discs,EBC red stuff for fast road use,Mintex are to hard for road use and they warped my old discs after i had them skimmed.

I suspect the problem was with the disks rather than being caused by the pads. I have been using 1144s on mine for both road, track and sprinting for 5 years without any problem whatsoever.

I don't own a Cerb but have driven Gruffallo's Cerb on the road and the track. I think he changed to the 1144's and I was very impressed. Excellent pedal feel and did not feel as of they would fade even after numerous laps of Snetterton 300 with its heavy braking areas.

I'm sure he'll be on later to confirm what pads he has.
