North of the border TVR dealers
Discussion
I've had enough. As much as I love my Jag XJR, it is now time to give in to my desires and get back to TVR ownership. The problem is that I now live in Aberdeen so the nearest official dealer is Edinburgh and my favoured dealership (Hexham Horseless) is a fair trek away.
I know Ted operates a no name and shame policy but I'd like to know what the Edinburgh dealers are like. I'm test driving a cerbera lightweight on Saturday at Alan MacDonald Sportscars and will call in past Glenvarigill on the way back - anyone got any anecdotes or just "DON'T GO NEAR THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE" kind of stories they'd like to mail me?

Hi, I've just moved from Scotland where TVR dealership has been a short term hobby recently.
Glenvarigill (Cupar?) to Brandon (Dalkeith) to Logik (Dunfermline)to Glenvarigill (Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh and now rumour has it to St. Andrew's)
Can write my opinions about Glenvarigill on the website, (though they did give me a nice day out at Knockhill once). They are used to Porsche and Ferrari owners and as you know we are not the same breed!
Logik didn't last long enough to get a serious reputation either way.
Brandon was owned by Alan McD who got out from front-line TVR dealership because of the problems with the early Tuscans (which really are at the root of TVR's recent difficulties). Alan is now an independent who really knows about TVR's and I have always found him a charming and savvy guy to deal with. Should be safe in his hands - especially if you know about the ups & downs of TVR ownership. I bought my Cerbera from him and he drove it down to South for me at no added cost - I think that speaks for itself.
Good luck - That LW 4.5 looks great

Separate sales from servicing. Buy the best you can find; which may or may not be in Scotland.
As for servicing, Glenvarigill remains the official main dealer (now in St.Andrews), Dreadnought garage is an official service centre based in Callendar [long established and now with swish new premesis], and V8 Sports and Classics are independents based in Drem, east of Edinburgh.
Why not come along to one of the TVR Car Club meetings and ask some of the folks in person? Next one is the Central Scotland meeting, this Saturday (7th Aug) at the Dunnikier House Hotel, Kirkcaldy.

Should have added for any recent car, esp AJP engines I would thoroughly recommend Dreadnought in Callander for servicing. Friendly, family owned and run business who really understand the quirkiness of TVR's. Claire Luti is not only one of the best mechanics around, you try catching her at Knockhill when she's got her racing metro at full chat!

Went and test drove the two cars on Saturday. In short: the cerbera looks nice but the engine note just didn't blow me away. I was expecting something more akin to my old griffith... It did have some problems but nothing un-fixable (mail me for details). Put me off though.
The tuscan was a great suprise which has changed my search to a Tuscan rather than a Cerb! Rather surprised at the amount of rattle and squeek from the rear window though. It's apparently sortable with some vaseline (said the actress to the bishop).
Is Mr. Lennox on here somewhere? He used to own the Tuscan Alan has for sale.

Yep, Tuscans are great when they go! Alan McD will have my old Tuscan for sale soon - it's a beauty, with AC, full leather & much more.
There is a little recent history, but the engine has been sorted consequently, Alan could fill you in on the details and the rear window doesn't squeak!
