Front Tyres - T1R's or Yokohomas?

Sorry to bring up such a dull topic but does anyone know the score with Toyo T1Rs?
I think my front tyres on the T1 Sports but am going to swap back from 40 profile to 35 profile.
Just dropped into a local tyre place and they can do me T1Rs (225 35 18) for £115 each plus VAT. So much the same as camskills price for the Sports.
I think the R's are a different tread pattern to the S's. So assume that mixing on different axles is fine. Just not sure if R's are now 'old' stock...?
They also suggested Yokohoma AVS Sport for £129 plus vat.
Anyone got a view on the 'older' Toyos or the Yokohomos (sp!)??

Gary i spoke to one of the SYTVRCC members this week and he's replaced the Toyo T1R's on his T350T with Yokohama Nuevo(?) - says they are superb, a big improvement.
