I now have all the intakes and the wiper box off!

Purchased a new wiper motor (stupidly) with the view to replace it as my wipers have been crap for ages. While poking around I noticed the Alternator belt was hanging on by a thread! So I'll change that while I'm here....

Oh, that means throttle bodies off. What fun! Still while that's off I can replace the nearside throttle return spring while I'm at it.

Oh, what's that, I'm missing a thermal spacer o-ring!! Amazed it has run properly with that missing.

Right motor overhauled with the new brush pack and park switch from the 14 watt unit I decided I would purchase (which is the wrong one). Lets have a look at the wiper mech.

Now, this is certainly not the easiest thing to get out and take care if you have had your screen replaced as no doubt the screen seal will be bonded fast to the upper trim plate.

That said, if you have lousy wipers I would suggest taking it off and cleaning up the spindle boxes and cable. Mine was full of manky grease and the 2 spindles had certainly seen better days.

I still haven't changed the big fuse or holder yet....

Know how u feel mister....

Replacing the coolant system turned into an engine pull which has become a body off nut and bolt full chassis refurb!!!

I'd never make a good project manager with scope creep like that!
biggrin

Scope creep Steve? Just you wait ;-)

BTW The stands are free whenever you want them.

Ridds, just out of curiosity, how did you get the wiper box off? I have tried a couple of times and never succeeded.

That is some impressive scope creep!!!

Wiper box is a bit of a ball ache tbh.

You have to drill out he rivets at the ends of the wiper trim panel.
Undo spindle retaining bolts
lever trim panel off trying not to pull the bottom screen seal off.
remove wiper motor
undo 2 bolts on the front of the box
undo 3 hidden bolts inside the box (under black grommets)
Pull he box out.

You may be able to get away without removing the throttles but mine are currently off so I couldn't confirm that or not.

I guess that some DPO (damned previous owner) sikaflexed the box in place on mine because I had all of the stuff you mention undone and I still couldn't budge it.

Don't use that stuff - Rain-X sponsor "Brake" the anti speed, anti motoring, anti fun pressure group. Turtle Wax do an equivalent that works just as well, so does Halfords own brand.

That's some impressive work. Do you have a any photos of what is underneath the black wiper panel? And any closer up of that part of the engine bay? The wire that drives the motors seems to be bent and broken and I need to remove the panel, but it'd be nice to see what's under there first.

I'll try and grab some better shots this weekend with a proper camera when I have a bit more time.

That effort was a rushed Sunday afternoons spannering to find any bits that needed replacing so I could order them!
