Anyone got one on their 4.5?

Was checking mine throttle blades today after refitting my semi-ported intakes and to my horror found the blades go over centre and actually close at full pedal travel.

I've made one for mine now but might be worth checking the next time you have you're intake hoses off.

it's on the pedalbox. You might have to take the panel off above where your knees are to get a decent look at it .. there's a 8mm bolt and locknut that's the full throttle stop .. sounds like yours needs adjusting.

Will have another look. Did stick my nose up there but couldn't see one. Didn't notice it when I changed the throttle cable either. :s

it's on the pedal box not on the pedal .. there's a welded threaded boss/nut in the metal of the pedal box, a 8mm bolt through it which is the pedal stop, and a 8mm locknut. Not seen a car without one yet, but then this is TVR .. lol

Any chance of a picture? I have just changed my throttle cable and couldn't find the stop. I have a bit of metal on the side of the pedal box that looks like it has had a hacksaw taken to it, so I suspect that someone has modified it and removed the stop.

Seems a strange thing to do, but that doesn't entirely surprise me. I keep finding strange modifications.

Would do but I'm in Germany miles from the car.

If you remove the lower dash trim panel (easy to remove) and then look above "the claw" air distribution pipe. You should see a nut that is the lock nut for the bolt that is the stop. smile

Thanks anyway smile

I spent most of yesterday evening upside down in the footwell changing the throttle cable and re-threading the temperature capillary, but I couldn't find anything that could act as a throttle stop. There seems to be a nut welded on the side of the pedal box, but the bolt that went through it has been hacksawed off on both sides leaving a stub in the nut. I think that probably used to be the throttle stop.

That sounds like the one.

It's in line with the top of the pedal where the cable goes through towards the drivers seat.

Yep - some bugger has chopped it off! I can't begin to imagine why! That's going to be fun drilling a hole for a new one up there.

Makes more sense to have it at the pedal end I suppose, otherwise you risk breaking the bracket that holds the cable at the other end (like RussellM did smile )

Yeah pedal end is best but I didn't know there was one there and the engine end was easier at the time. wink

A pedal stop also won't stop the blades from going over centre if all your return springs fail.

I think you may be able to unbolt and drop the whole accelerator pedal assembly down in to the footwell. Thats what I did on mine.

You could drill out the remaining bits 0.5-1mm undersize then get the remaining thread out. Tbh once the lower panel and "claw" is out the way you can see it by kneeling comfortably outside the car. wink
