After 7 months having had the body off, engine out, gearbox rebuilt, chassis restored, every single fastener replaced, more bits replaced and zinc plated than I can list, and blown the budget by at least a factor of three, the Kent countryside once again reverberated (if briefly) to the sound of an AJP 8 this afternoon.

Fired her up for the first time in half a year with good oil pressure and running sweet as a nut. Just a few odds and sods of tidying up to do then an MOT and it will be back on the road.

Now where is that "insufferably smug" smilie?

PS Top tip for anyone thinking of doing a body off restoration: Pay someone else to do it, it is a bh of a job!

Completely awesome!

I reckon a Cerbera in this condition should be a 40k car someday in the future!

Maybe when I get an APM 4.7 rebuild in it in the next year or so (once the credit card has cooled down a bit!!!)

I seem to suffer from a bad case of "shipwrights disease", in that once you have got so far its not worth putting it back together dirty, rusty etc. The upshot is that everything that can safely be stainless steel now is and everything else has been cleaned, zinc plated and passivated.

The chassis was grit blasted, hot zinc plasma sprayed and powder coated along with every bracket and suspension arm. I anodised the aluminium hubs and built rose jointed drop links front and back. All brake lines and fittings replaced. Callipers refurbished, new hub bearings, replaced most fuel hoses and the hard lines that run through the body plus loads and loads of other stuff.

Basically it is now as close to a new Cerbera as I can get it, hopefully with a build quality rather better than the original due to a few subtle modifications. i.e. the passenger seat now bolts through metal rather than just fibreglass and the drivers seat is through metal at both ends instead of only one!!!

Another weekends work and it should be ready to MOT then drive! 7 months is a long time to go without that special TVR grin.

Agreed, although £40k would be a bargain!

Totally stunning, great effort!!!!

The chassis colour goes back to a standing joke with Mrs Tanguera who once said "that car is no lady, she is the sort of tart that would wear purple underwear all the time" Now she does...

Love these pics of refurbed Cerbs.

One thing, did you turn the upper rear wishbone bolts round before putting the body back on?

From memory they won't come out when fitted from the rear due to the proximity of the tub.

Good spot, sir! Fortunately so did I and I switched them round before it was too late. biggrin
