Chassis paint / heat matting

Got the majority of my engine bay and manifold laid in various locations around my garage at the minute, while poking around iv found plenty of bits of powercoating peeled/ missing and the dreaded scabs of rust setting in, So to prevent it getting worse until I get chance to get the chassis done I'm planning on sanding it back and painting it with either por15 or hammerite, has anybody used either with good results? Hammerite would have been the ideal choice had I not read that the por15 is supposed to be the best... So can anybody suggest reasons for either? Also I need to fit some new heat reflective matting to the engine bay, does anybody know where I can get some from? There's some on eBay but I can imagine it will be cheap crap.

I have used both Hammerite and POR15 in the past and not had great results from either of them, POR 15 has the edge if you do a really thorough job of the preparation using their own "Marine Clean" etc, but both were fairly short lived in my experience.

I have a bit over a square meter of the top grade thermal matt left over from my body off restoration which you can have for cost + P&P I think it was around £45 per meter. PM me if you want it.

I went the hammerite route with my front end rebuild. I used the hammerite primer first then white hammerite over the top. Whilst it covers good can be a bit thick so needs a bit of thinning which helps with the coverage. I done two coats of each.

I was looking at what I have done as a temp solution until such time I can do a proper whole chassis job

I managed to source enough heat matting from a local exhaust place today so that's sorted , iv also ordered a tin of por15, it's only for the time been, the chassis looks fairly solid, even the outriggers, it's just the silver powder coating it's peeling in almost every area I look. Down by the manifolds doesn't look half as bad as some I have seen on here, if I can get another few years before I have to take the body off that will be great. Il try get some pictures up of my progress

Have not been on the forum for a while, hence the late reply. Personally speaking I would consider reflective heat tape around the engine bay. Before taking my chassis for blasting I peeled a few meters of tape off and underneath was like new.
