Can I expect a good will gesture from the engine builder ?

In 2009 my Cerb-S6 had a full engine rebuild, (at least I would see it as a full rebuild if all camshafts, finger followers, valves, pistonrings, big end bearings, main bearings, aux shaft bearings were replaced and all the mods were done ?)

In 2011 a valve seat dropped, engine out and top end repaired

Now an other valve seat dropped, engine needs to go out again ...

Since the initial rebuild in 2009, the car has not even done 3000 miles but after this time I hope to reach the service interval of 6000 miles wink

Not good at all frown I think the engine builder should at least do the Job labour free unless you've managed to cause the issue somehow due to over revs or similar ??

No offence intended, but perhaps less than 1000 miles a year has exacerbated the problems

To be fair to the engine builder, valve seats do not just fall out of their own accord.

Unless you asked for it to be ported or the valves seats recut then it's unlikely his work would have caused them to fall out.

How have you gotten away with a valve seat falling out and just having a top end repair. Most valve seat drop outs I've seen have resulted in a lot of mess!

You are right, valve seats don't fall out. But a drop of a few millimeters is enough for the shim to jump out. The first time (after the rebuild) it happend to the previous owner. He turned the engine off immediately and avoided further damage because the shim was still sitting in the head.

Unfortunately this is not the case this time ...
