I hope you made it to your destination okay, sorry I couldn't have been any more helpful but at least we got the car to a safer place despite getting soaked.

Thank for the help, it was a anxious 70 mins 'broken down' with extra hoards of cars passing by as the M23 was shut.
Just as the AA arrived my wife turned up with a can of petrol just in case my fuel guage was not reading accurately. To my embarrasment it was an empty tank as it fired up after a couple of tries.
Sod's law, just as I was going to Austec to get new rear AVO shocks/springs fitted a) M23 shut, b) have to take long diversion, c) run out of fuel, d) p#ssing down with rain, e) extra humiliation from passer bys (M23 shut).
Lesson learned, carry spare can petrol & don't trust fuel gauge.
Thanks again.

Ye gads, another yellow Cerb in the area! Common colour, maybe I should get a re-spray in blue?

Shocks/springs fitted but ride height needs increasing as with a full tank is bottoming out, also I'll play with the shjock settings over the w/e as the ride has suffered (too jiggly) and more prone to oversteer, bought the spd 6 model precisely 'cos it handled more like a GT than a racer that the v8's are set up to be. Got the kids to think about.
