310 miles over the weekend and didn't miss a beat.

Legendary TVR reliability!
Went from West Sussex to just outside Dorchester where we were staying on Friday morning.
Then went down to Poole Quay for the TVR meet. Back to Dorchester for the Night.
Went to Monkeyworld on Saturday and Beaulieu Motor museum on the way home today.
She didn't miss a beat but she did use £100.00 worth of Shells' finest though!

Jhonno, don't believe everything you here about TVRs, in six years of ownership 3 in a Tuscan and 3 in my Cerbera I have only broken down once and that was when the engine siezed on a dino!! so no road breakdowns although the Dino damage did cost me £8k!!!
I'm really sorry, but that is not a result. A catastrophic engine failure costing £8k would be game over for me, and if it only happened once in six years that wouldn't be much consolation. For what it's worth last weekend I did 600 miles plus a track day, and I now have another cracked exhaust manifold, not impressed.
I love the way doing 310 miles in a Cerb without breaking down is cause for celebration in this forum
Since (and incluiding) Le Mans in June I've done over 1100 miles in my Chim and that includes a track day and Poole Quay, it hasn't missed a beat. Also in that time it has had to jump start my old mans Cerb (at Poole Quay
) and a Polish mans Turbo'd Honda Civic at Brands TD
(I wish I'd got a pic of a TVR jump starting a Honda
)
Don't worry I'm not having a dig (a Cerb is my next TVR) only jealous of your superior power and noise over my Chimp.

I suppose 310 miles is a bit pathetic in the real scheme of things...

It was the longest single trip I've made in the Cerb since i got it two years ago.
That was why I was pleased but in reality, i've probably done 4000 miles without a hiccup
In nearly 2500miles since April i have lost 16L of coolant. That has been my only real issue. Both Unplanned coolant dumps were both my fault, One not fitting a heater hose correctly and just a few days ago i did pre drive checks of all fluids as i normally do and cross threaded the expansion cap car hit traffic at 90 Degress and dumped 8L out the tank oops
So that does not count as a break down as i sorted both myself at the road side. lol

Figures, strangely enough, aren't that important. The fact is that these cars have a bad rep - whether justified or not - and with that in the back of most owners' minds then any trip of a reasonable distance - which takes you away from an area of familiarity - can be a tense time, mentally.
It's great to hear that you are enjoying your Chimera so much and that she's such a reliable saviour
BUT
I don't hear about a woop of Chimps heading across the continent every year - which Cerb owners do.
Too risky methinks ??

Mine hasn't made a trip to the garage (sorry, what's a spanner?) in the last few weeks, but I do make sure my RAC card is kept in the car.
Did 170 miles around Norfolk in a Ferrari/Lamborghini/Porsche/Lotus/TVR convoy last weekend without missing a beat, and I am hoping that my 215 mile round trip this weekend to Southend for a TVR meet will be equally drama free.
BUT, I have to admit that in under three months of ownership I have called people out three times, twice for the hot start problem and once for the 100 amp fuse. But the car IS 13 years old, and my similar aged diesel Mercedes wasn't exactly trouble free either. And my 13 year old American Ford 4x4 has so many faults it is SORN.
Enjoy your TVR for what it is........special.
