Following on from another thread of mine I have to say a massive thanks to M3John and djstevec for giving up what turned out to be a full day of their time to 'help me' :cough: replace the silicone hoses in my car. It was an enlightening experience for me, and a reminder of exactly how useless I am (although the lads can hopefully confirm I make a good cuppa and a decent sandwich) with all things mechanical, but I do at least now have a better understanding of engine cooling hehe

I was actually caught on a couple of occasions with a tool in my hand (no, not like that!) and the lads actually trusted me to undo a couple of nuts. I even managed to get some oil on my shirt, which considering how involved I wasn't, was an achievement in itself hehe

Guys, you were great company and again, thank you from the heart of my bottom smile

Seriously, PistonHeaders ROCK smile

Steve, when your turn comes around, as promised, I will come up to your place and again make tea and provide food (and crack a few jokes) while you and John get on with the serious business.

Before the carnage

And so it begins

Safety equipment, FUBAR style hehe

The Cerb shoots its load to the surprise of the lads

Steve had the hands of a gynaecologist!

The boys were a right pair of silly arses at times

Old 'n' new

And so it begins. First of the shiny bits back in.

Time for some new rubber (ooh matron)

Closing in on the moment of truth

Ever seen a grown man give a Cerb a blowjob?

Final checks

Job jobbed.

Sadly without our wingman Steve, John and I celebrated with a night out in Brighton, drinking copious amounts of alcohol and checking out some stunning chassis work in the HedKandi bar

Having just done this job I know how involving it is. Worst bit for me is now I have to reverse some of it to replace the radiator.

But you got yourself a good team of helpers there.

Bob, got the hoses and ss coolant pipes from ACT. Went for black rather than coloured as I know from experience coloured pipes should only be fitted by people who can be bothered to clean the bowels of an engine every now and then and also they are all hidden by the F1 Panel, so no one gets to see them hehe

http://www.actproducts.co.uk/shop/tvr-cooling-hose...

Circa £150 + VAT. This is for the front hoses. There is a full hose kit for an extra £30 or so but my rear hoses where OK.

http://www.actproducts.co.uk/shop/sc007-tvr-cerber...

Again, about £150 + VAT

Heya Fubes!

Was great to meet you and give John a hand, as lets be honest, he did do most of the work! wink

Always happy to lend a hand, (so long as the other hand knows much more about Cerbs than me!) and if for nothing else than the yummy sandwiches. You're gonna have to bring a bit of that piccalilly up with you too mate, great stuff. lick

Word of warning all.

I ordered a new thermostat from Power. When we offered it up the inlet/outlet are at different angles to the original (new one is at 90 degree, original was around 120degrees).

I spoke to Dom@Power and he said you cant get the originals any more, only the ones he supplies. He was supposed to email me a diagram showing how to fit the new style one, but it does mean butchering some of the new silicone hoses to make it fit. The email/diagram never arrived so 'we' ended up putting the original one back in. It works so no bother, but I do have a new style one up for grabs if anyone needs a new one smile

I've not met John, but I can attest that djstevec is indeed a legend - helping me at several critical stages of my top end refurb. Shame you couldn't persuade him to join you for celebratory drinks. Let's make sure we rectify that when we help with Steve's body lift.

AbFab Guys - What a wonderful place PH is !!

Wow ! and took the bonnet off - Is that easy to do ?

... and a question: When I did mine, I still had the (bottom ?) radiator hose left. It seemed impossible to get at - Any suggestions ?

Ta ! bow

What's the story with the non-standard fuel rail?

Dont you facking start lol. I have fuel rail envy. Funny Steve says he has the same fuel rail and both our cars are early 4.5s ( both stamped as GTs but we all know how that story pans out).

I'm guessing TVR changed the fuel rail design to the fancy one post '98?

Sometimes take the car up to the East End on business. Don't believe the Olympic hype about Bow & Stratford. You can't polish a turd hehe
