Sump plugs??

Just come to change the oil in my 4.2 and there are two sump plugs. Do they both drain the oil or is one for something else??

update:- drained both plugs and refilled with Magnatec to try and quieten the tappety engine noise when warm............Didn't work. It actually sounds slightly worse and now she's emitting a horrible smell from the engine bay when I pull up (no I didn't spill any.)

I think I'll stick fully synthetic back in, as it should be!

Still no ideas on why two sump plugs though. Any help would be appreciated just to put my mind at rest.
